A profusion of bright red berries fall through winter is assured because a male pollenizer is in the same container as the fruiting female. The x meserveae species are the hardiest of the hollies with glossy, blue-green leaves and purple stems. Ideal as a landscape accent, or planted in groups as a dense hedge or screen. Evergreen. Hardy to -20°F Maximum Elevation: 6,000 ft.

Need for cross-pollination to get berries is not a worry with this plant for there are male and female branches in the container to insure cross- pollination. Provide protection from winter sun.
Oregon Grape Holly (Mahonia)
Erect spreading branches are covered by rounded, sharply toothed leaves, dark bluish-green in color turning reddish-bronze to purple in winter. Plant in area protected from winter sun. Berries are edible.

Castle Spire® Blue Holly
This new variety of blue holly is very compact and pyramidal in shape. It has a more narrow form making it perfect for hedges, screens, foundation plantings, and even as a specimen. It is a female selection, so it needs a male such as Castle Wall Blue Holly, Blue Prince Holly, or China Boy Holly.
