Meyer's Blue Spruce has an attractive blue-green hue with a dense pyramidal habit & short needles. Refined form with a medium growing habit is tolerant of urban conditions & is more disease resistant than other spruce species. Discovered in Western China in 1908 & named after Frank N. Meyer of the US Department of Agriculture. He collected seeds for Harvard University's Arnold Arboretum at the temple of Tchai-ling-tse which sits at 9,000 feet above sea level. Drought tolerant

This selection is intermediate in characteristics between pungens and glauca, with short, dark green needles, a uniform pyramidal shape and moderate growth rate. The natural Christmas tree shape and sturdy constitution make it desirable addition to landscapes where hardiness and adaptability are required.
Baby Blue Eyes Spruce is a conical-shaped, fully branched selection of Colorado Spruce with a uniform growth habit and intense blue needles. On the average it will grow upward about 8 inches per year compared to some Colorado Spruce that can grow as much as 12 to 18 inches upward per year. Since it is a grafted plant , the growth rate can vary depending on the rootstock (understock) that it is grafted on to. It is most commonly grafted on to Picea abies (Norway Spruce) because of the vigorous root system that allows for better transplanting. Some trees that have been reported to be "dwarf" probably were grafted on to a less vigorous root system. All in all it is a very beautiful tree with a very appealing name that should be considered to be a average size spruce tree.

A grafted selection of Colorado Spruce with a good blue color. Its slender habit and upward angled branches make it a good choice for smaller yards. The growth rate is about 10-12" per year.

This is a dense, pyramidal form of Colorado Spruce with stiff horizontal branches and intense silver-blue needles. New growth is exceptionally blue.
A new variety with Christmas tree form, dense branching habit and 'fuzzy', softer blue-green needles than other white spruce. Fast-growing and will probably grow into a full-sized tree, 30' tall 20' wide over 20 years. Drought tolerant and disease resistant once established. This tough, spreading Colorado Spruce stays low and blankets the ground with beautiful, healthy, green foliage that displays remarkable tolerance to adverse conditions. The uniform, ground-hugging plant performs best in full sun. Use it to shield an exposed bank or other site that takes the brunt of harsh weather. The name, which translates to "green table", suggests color and form and hints at the plant's indomitable character.
