Plants similar to Maxwell Norway Spruce

Red Cone Norway Spruce

Even when young, this delightful conifer develops remarkable, raspberry-red cones on the tips of its branches in spring. The unusual coning habit tends to modify growth rate and shape to produce a broad, spreading pyramid, which becomes wider than tall with age. Known since 1890, the plant has an apt name 'Acrocona' which means "with terminal cones on the end of branches".

Dwarf Globe Norway Spruce

A compact rounded evergreen. Short, bright green needles are soft to the touch, creating a delicate texture. Prefers protection from hot winter sun.

Little Gem Dwarf Norway Spruce

Very similar to the Nest Spruce, with tiny, short green needles. A very dense habit and all around smaller plant.

'Paul's Select' Norway Spruce

Paul's Select forms a dense pyramidal tree with a slender habit. A perfect choice for the specimen plant in the garden. It is rare to find a Norway Spruce with the bluish color in the needles that Paul's Select has.

'Tompa' Dwarf Norway Spruce

Fresh green needles and a compact habit make this slow-growing Norway Spruce a great choice for smaller landscapes and rock gardens. Its wide, conical shape resembles the well-known Alberta Spruce for which it is an acceptable substitute. Like Alberta Spruce, in Colorado, it will benefit from winter sun & wind protection.

Weeping Norway Spruce

An excellent choice for weeping over rocks or walls. Can also be grown on a stake to feature the pendulous nature of the branches and rich green needles. Height will vary according to form. This weeping evergreen can be grafted high on the trunk so as to elevate the foliage off the ground. This gives this plant a natural green waterfall effect.
