This magnolia was bred for a late spring bloom to prevent frost damage to the delicate flowers. Deep purplish-red saucer-shaped flowers blanket this tree, followed by dark green leaves. Requires very little maintenance and is easy to grow. One of 8 hybrids in THE GIRLS SERIES bred by the US National Arboretum.

Yellow blooms cover the branches in early spring before the tree leafs out. Best grown in neutral to acidic soil. Tolerates full sun and does best with some afternoon shade in extreme heat. Upright and pyramidal shape. Blooms are a canary yellow and 4-5" wide. Dark green leaves emerge after blooming season, staying attractive for the rest of the season. Lemon-like fragrance while in bloom. Does best in well-drained soil.
